Google has launched a new feature that aims to provide more accurate email services. Who hasn’t at least once emailed the wrong person and left wondering why the intended receiver never responded? ‘Got The Wrong Bob’ is a new feature for Gmail, Google’s e-mail service. The brainchild of engineer Yossi Matias of Google Labs, the plug-in works by analysing the groups of people you usually send e-mails to. It can then spot when you include an unexpected address among the of intended recipients. Mistakes are often made because most web-based e-mail programmes have an ‘auto complete’ function that fills in someone’s name after a few letters, meaning a few seconds’ distraction can spell disaster.

Google is known for it’s playful side and frequently changes it’s logo for significant events or dates. But lately, we have seen a set of strange UFO inspired graphics.
Google has now finally explained the mysterious doodles:
In a final picture released today, UFOs are shown spinning over houses while three-legged ‘fighting-machines’ cause havoc. The terrifying machines were famously described in Wells’ novel The War of the Worlds, which chronicled an invasion by Martians.
Google set up an elaborate series of clues that pointed towards the science fiction writer, to mark the author’s birth in Bromley, Kent.

As an avid fan of most Google products, I thought the fuss about Street View was somewhat exaggerated. Ever since Google Earth, people were able to find bizarre, abstract and hilariously funny pictures.
Google’s Street View takes it a step further; Google cars in fact film streets for your viewing pleasure and sometimes pictures like the following are caught on camera and make its way around the Internet:

So these guys seem to have a lot of time on their hands. This video is pretty cool nonetheless.
The only thing I’m not sure about is the end results – it’s a bit cheesy isn’t it?
Well anyway, as for the video, 4 Google employees worked together simultaneously on a single Google Docs spreadsheet and created this pretty wintery art.

GMail has to be my favourite webmail ever! One big bonus it the constant improvement. Not only does Gmail grow in storage capacity but Google adds applications and tweaks generally on a regular basis.
And now, Google mail lets you include gadgets on the left-hand side. These gadgets can be enabled within Gmail under the Settings tab. Provided are two gadgets – Google Calendar and Google Docs, showing upcoming events and recent documents.
If you are working a lot with Google Documents and/or Calendar, this is certainly worth it.
